Having pets is one of the best perks of being alive. Cats, dogs, lizards, rabbits, you name it! These beautiful creatures are more than just companions in our lives. Across many households, there are endless stories of cuteness where pets are involved. We’ve collected some of the best for your amusement, hoping it will brighten your day or at least tug at the corners of your lips.
A Curious Case of Lucy and the Chocolate Truffles
Our first story follows a beautiful Poodle mix rescue named Lucy. Like many rescues, Lucy hates being left alone. She loves following her mom, Anne, around. But last Christmas, Anne and her family had to dash out of the house briefly, leaving the pup alone. They hadn’t meant to do so and quickly hurried back after completing all their errands.
It was then that they discovered that their Lucy had ripped into all their wrapped presents under the Christmas tree. Among said presents was a box of truffle chocolates, which Lucy had seemingly devoured. Fear gripped Anne as she realized that Lucy was in danger because of the sheer number of chocolates she’d downed. Anne herself couldn’t finish a single truffle by herself. Lucy had seemingly eaten eight out of the box’s nine.
The family was in emergency mode, trying to figure out the best way forward when one of Anne’s sons found a chocolate truffle hidden in the laundry basket in his room. Soon after, another truffle surfaced in a different room. It wasn’t long before the family unearthed seven truffles, which their dog had hidden in different yet creative places all over the house for each of them to find!
This is Candy’s Bed
Candy the Dalmatian is like any other lovely pet. She’s cute, loving, and fiercely protective of those she sees as family. Her dad had long loved letting her sleep in his bed at night, and Candy adored this tradition. Even when her dad found his soulmate and settled down, the sleeping arrangement didn’t change.
Well, that was until one night when her dad woke up to use the bathroom. When he came back, he found sweet ole Candy sprawled on his side of the bed. She wouldn’t move so he could join in; even splashing a little water on her to get her to move wasn’t cutting it.
Her dad decided it was too late in the night to make a fuss, so he told her, “Okay, I’ll sleep in the other room!” Keeping his word, the dad took a blanket and went to sleep in the guest bedroom. But to his surprise, the air in the room shifted, and something jumped on the bed. Looking down, he found Candy on the bed, wagging her tail in anticipation of some good night’s sleep.
A Little Shadow for your Protection, A Little Whiskey for your Comfort
Our next pet parent, Laura, recalls tales from her childhood, where she had two of the most adorable cats! Shadow, her first, was a beautiful ball of black fluff. She came equipped with what Laura only describes as a bad temper, an attitude, and murder mittens. She always hurried to sit outside the room whenever Laura bathed. She’d attack anyone coming upstairs to protect Laura and loved the taste of the postman’s fingers, although no actual harm befell the postman under her watch.
Her sibling, Whiskey, was the opposite behavior-wise. She was a ginger and white cat who loved sleeping nuzzled up next to Laura’s head every night! She was the definition of comfort-a perfect contrast and balance to her sister Shadow.
