Firefighters Rescued Over 100 Stranded Pets After Hurricane Milton

Recently, two extremely powerful and devastating hurricanes caused catastrophic damage and flooding in Florida. Luckily, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) in Tampa, Florida, sent their search and rescue team to save animals trapped in flooded homes.

They headed out in SHERP ATV 4×4 units, which are vehicles designed to tackle the most challenging situations and that can float in water. One by one, they rescued animals from flooded homes, carrying them back to the all-terrain vehicle through waist-deep water.

HCFR posted about it on Facebook, writing, “After Hurricane Milton, our teams have rescued 104 pets so far, ensuring that no one—human or animal—is left behind. We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve and protect all members of our community, big and small.”

A Grateful Pet

One of the dogs rescued from the floods was truly grateful for their help, and it showed. They shared a photo, writing, “Check out this beautiful moment of pure gratitude and love! This dog’s eyes say it all as he looks at Cpt. Dusty Mascaro from our HCFR TSAR team after being brought to safety.”

More Than 100 Pets

“Thank you to everyone who has supported these efforts! Together, we will get through this and rebuild,” They posted. The firefighters rescued over 100 stranded pets from flooded houses and reunited them with their families!
