Earth Day Protests Erupting Across The Nation — These 5 Cities Are Red Zones

April 19, 2025, was the day America saw a record wave of activism. More than 700 events took place in all 50 states, coordinated by the grassroots organization 50501. Their goal: to protest what they see as authoritarian overreach by the Trump administration.

Referred to as the “National Day of Action,” this campaign was designed to mobilize 3.5% of the United States’ population, which was approximately 11 million individuals. Protests weren’t just about opposition — they were about people-power, rallies, teach-ins, and mutual aid were in the spotlight. Metropolitan cities such as New York, Chicago, and Miami were hubs for the national protest.

The 50501 movement, named for its goal of organizing protests in every state picked up momentum quickly after its launch in February 2025. The day added fuel to the ongoing debate about governance and democracy in America.
