1. Pitbulls: 235 PSI
Pitbulls remain at the top of bite statistics for a reason. With a bite force of 235 PSI and accounting for 66% of fatal dog attacks from 2005 to 2019, this breed has earned its reputation. Despite representing just 6% of the dog population, pitbulls are involved in a disproportionate number of bite incidents. Their strength and tenacity make them excellent pets in the right hands, but they require diligent training and early socialization to ensure good behavior.
2. Rottweilers: 328 PSI
Rottweilers have a powerful bite force of 328 PSI and account for 23% of fatal dog attacks in the U.S. Known for their loyalty and protective nature, rottweilers are natural guard dogs. 11. Tosa Inu
The Tosi Inu is an impressive dog that can weigh nearly 200 pounds in the USA and has a bite force of 555 PSI. The breed is found in America and Japan, where it was originally bred as a fighting dog. Despite their heritage, they have a mild temperament with plenty of patience. When they need to protect their owners, however, they are courageous.
12. Dogue De Bordeaux
The Dogue De Bordeaux just beats out the Tosa Inu with a bite force of 556 PSI. They are sweet dogs that detest exercise and can gain weight rapidly. Remember to always take them on walks, or they may become overweight. They make great family pets but, unfortunately, do not live quite as long as the other breeds on this list, with a life expectancy of 5-8 years.
13. Cane Corso
Despite weighing less than many of the other breeds on this list, the Cane Corso had an incredible bite force of 700 PSI on average. The breed is short-furred and doesn’t require a lot of maintenance. They make great protectors and fit well in a family environment. Remember that the Cane Corso prefers to be an only pet.
14. American Bandogge
The American Bandogge is a beast of a dog with a bite force of 730 PSI. The breed was created in the 1960s, with the number one priority being a protector. They are obedient dogs that will live with any other animal if they are brought up with them and socialized properly. They have a life expectancy of ten years.
15. Kangal
The Kangal has the highest bite force of any dog on the planet at an incredible 743 PSI. The breed is often used as a shepherd and protects its owners and livestock. They are perfectly adapted to extreme environments and have been exported to Africa to protect livestock from wolves and other predators.
