Dogs are always trying their best to look out for their owners and make sure their safe. Some loyal breeds will even put themselves in harms way to protect their owner. With these keen senses, some breeds can even identify snakes long before their their family has. Here are dogs that snakes know not to mess with.

The Rat terrier has amazing senses that allow it to easily notice any snakes nearby. They have their lineage in hunting, which means that snakes know better than to mess with them. They can often be aware of snakes before their owners are.

They have a strong prey drive, which means they won’t hesitate to dispatch a snake if it gets too close to their owner.
