It’s common knowledge that some dogs suffer from anxiety, but few people might be aware that some breeds are more prone to anxiety than others. Knowing which breeds are more prone to anxiety can help better manage your dog and give them the proper care they need to be happy and healthy.

These energetic pups love running around and being mentally stimulated. They are brilliant and love to be challenged mentally. They may become anxious or develop obsessive behaviors like herding or pacing without proper exercise and engagement. Making sure they get the stimulation they need can help prevent any form of anxiety in these pups.

These pups might be small, but they can be pretty feisty if they want to be. They are well-known to suffer from anxiety, especially separation anxiety when they are left alone. They grow incredibly close bonds with their family, and when left alone, they feel unsafe and insecure. They might not be fans of unfamiliar spaces either because they feel most comfortable in places they know.

3. German Shepherd

These affectionate pups are so happy to be helped that they can quickly develop separation anxiety when left alone. This breed thrives on human companionship, and leaving them alone for long periods can often lead to destructive behavior or anxiety. So, if you are planning on a long day out, make sure to leave enough toys to keep them busy, or your furniture might be at stake.

They are known for being a bit “high-strung” and can become anxious in stressful situations or when they don’t get enough exercise. Ensuring they exercise enough should help this little guy calm down significantly.

This breed is extremely affectionate and can be quite sensitive, too. They form strong bonds with their family, and when they are left alone, they can become quite distressed. Separation anxiety can be a big problem with this breed due to their constant need for affection. Having a set routine should help keep them calm when you aren’t home because this makes them feel more secure.
