Underrated Vacation Spots To Visit Next Time You Go On Holiday

With vacations getting more and more expensive every year, people are more likely to look to other destinations. With Spain, Paris, and France being many people’s destinations of choice, it’s an expensive holiday. Thankfully, there are other amazing vacation spots that not many people know about that are more affordable than well-known tourist attractions.

Filandia, Colombia

When most tourists think of Colombia, they’re normally pointed towards Salento by the Cocora Valley with some of the most amazing palm trees. Another destination in Colombia that’s often overlooked is Filandia. The beautiful town is surrounded by lush rolling hills and has a rich history. The UN’s World Tourism Organization recently named Filandia one of the world’s Best Tourism Villages.

When most people think about a vacation on the African continent, they normally either visit South Africa or Morocco in the North. But there’s another destination that no one’s talking about – Southern Tunisia. The town of Douz has nearby dunes as far as the eye can see and they can be explored either on a quadbike or a camel. Prince Edward Island, Canada

Canada is an amazing and quite frankly, enormous. Most of the country is remote and many tourists flock to Quebec or Toronto. But the country has other beautiful destinations like Prince Edward Island. The locations has wetlands with hiking trails, rockey cliffs, and majestic farmland. You can even sit down at the Blue Mussel Cafe and try the signature poutine chowder.

Tasmania, Australia

Most avid tourists will visit Australia looking to cross every continent off of their bucket list. Tourists normally go to Sydney to visit the Sydney Opera House, but there are other places like Tasmania. The state is protected under the Tasmania Wilderness World Heritage. There’s plenty of things to do in Tasmania including going to the Museum of Old and New Art.

Antarctica

Of all the continents to visit, Antarctica is the least likely on a tourist’s list. No matter what season, it won’t be sunny. The normally inhospitable continent doesn’t afford much for tourists, but for those few who want a unique vacation, then Brown Station is it. Some cruises will make a stop at Port Lockroy – a historic site. The sights are beautiful, and many seals and orcas can be spotted, too.

Azores, Portugal

This remote archipelago offers lush landscapes, volcanic craters, and stunning coastlines. The Azores are perfect for hiking, whale watching, and exploring unspoiled nature. Despite its beauty, it remains less crowded than other European destinations and taxes tourists nearly as much as places like London or France.

Lofoten Islands, Norway

Located above the Arctic Circle, these islands boast dramatic scenery with towering peaks, white sandy beaches, and charming fishing villages. Summer brings the midnight sun, providing endless daylight for activities like kayaking, cycling, and exploring Viking history. Despite its breathtaking landscapes, Lofoten remains a hidden gem for many travelers who want a change of pace compared to the standard tourist destinations. It’s sure not to be too crowded.
